Now THIS is a special show! Any opportunity I have to work with Elaine Wang Meyerhoffer is guaranteed to be a great time. Our 2012 rehearsals and performances in Palm Desert were a perfect example. “A Party with Betty Comden and Adolph Green” was originally conceived as a benefit for the for the Siletz Bay Music Festival… And we raised nearly $10,000.

The Seed to a Great Idea Is Planted

I first sang with Elaine in Palm Springs as part of the sought after Musical Chairs Concert Series, devised and directed by Derrik Lewis.  Elaine later asked me to join her in singing in Hong Kong for her tycoon grandfather Y.C. Wang’s 100th Birthday celebration at the Hong Kong Hyatt.

It was an extraordinary night! To sing a show with a hot Filipino Band and  professional dancers flown in from ABC’s hit show “Dancing with The Stars.”  And “YC” was in such control that he even selected most of the repertoire Elaine and I sang that memorable evening, December 30th, 2010.  It was out of this collaboration that the idea was born to do a show together.

A New Show Is Born

Jack Moore had devised two other shows for me, my first Cole Porter show called “It’s All About Cole” and then “Opera to Broadway, the composers and lyricists who did it all!”

I knew that Jack in his Broadway/Hollywood career as a professional dancer had worked on a production with Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the famous New York duo who wrote lyrics for nearly 50 years on Broadway and Hollywood.  Jack created a show where he brings this talented duo to life, Elaine playing Betty Comden and I play Adolph Green.

We cover the full range of their work and they collaborated with some of the best composers of the 20th Century, Leonard Bernstein, Cy Coleman, Andre Previn.

Even More Talented Than I Knew

Elaine is a classical singer by nature and what I didn’t know is what comedic chops she has in her talent bag as well!  We love doing this show and know it has the potential to be an exceptional fundraising tool for charities to maximize a charity benefit.

Please visit our Comden & Green Show Page or be in touch should you like to know more about booking this show for your event. I would be happy to talk with you. Please email me or call (503) 706-1123 at your convenience. ~ Rocky
