The College Years & After Graduation

Rocky Blumhagen received his B.A. in vocal performance from Lewis and Clark College in Portland Oregon.  In his senior year he gave a cabaret performance rather than a classical recital for his degree, the first student to ever do so.

After graduation, as part of a two man group called Windstone with Gale Enger, Rocky gave over 1500 nightclub performances in Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada and the U.S.  They recorded three albums and have  a CD and DVD of a live benefit concert which they recorded in May of 2005.

Initial Careers & Back to the Stage

Rocky went on to have two completely different careers. His first in radio on the sales/management side of large commercial radio stations in Portland Oregon.  For several years Rocky continued to teach Radio University for the Portland Area Radio Council graduating many students to pursue careers in radio advertising sales.

Rocky’s other career of course is acting and singing.  Rocky has appeared  in “Three Guys and a Piano” at The Indio Performing Arts Center.  For both his lead role in the comedy-mystery, “Who Killed Zachary Morgan?” at the Thorny Theatre, and as Peron in “Evita” at Palm Canyon Theatre, Rocky won Desert Entertainer Encore Awards (Palm Springs).

He performed a new cabaret act written especially for Palm Springs National Country Club where he lived at the time. In 2007 Rocky attended the prestigious Yale Cabaret Conference in New Haven Connecticut.

Spiritual Appreciation

Rocky has always loved singing in churches and has done so since he was 10 years old.  Rocky was the music coordinator for the Religious Science Church of the Desert in Palm Desert, California.

Rocky enjoys the study of languages and speaks Spanish and German, travels internationally and resides with his partner in Palo Alto, CA and in Salishan on the central Oregon coast whenever possible.

Rocky’s passions for life include the study of “Science of Mind”, singing “life affirming” music, expanding his mind, body, voice and spirit, and most importantly, being available to sing and perform. It is Rocky’s mission to have his performances raise more than 1 million dollars for charitable organizations.
