Week #32 – Kriya for Disease Resistance – October 20-24, 2020

Overview

WEEK 32 – Kriya for Disease Resistance

This kriya has simpler poses that comprise the sequence and there is ample opportunity to suspend the breath creating mental clarity. The stomach pumping on a suspended breath in the opening pose is simple once you get it, so take your time. There is quality time to stretch and allow your fascia (the fibrous connective tissue that surrounds your muscles binding everything together. This is an excellent kriya for a beginner practicing Kundalini Yoga and for a more seasoned practitioner it is a wonderful practice to perfect the postures and go deeper into your state of mindfulness, your state of Pratayara.

Remember – If you are on your Moon/Menstrual cycle no held breath, substitute with long and deep breathing.

Remember – If you are on your Moon/Menstrual cycle no held breath, substitute with long and deep breathing.

CHANTS in this Kriya include:

Adi Mantra – I bow to the Creative Wisdom. I bow to the Divine Teacher within. This mantra is used to access the divine flow and self-knowledge within each of us. We chant it three times. Once for ourselves, once for the people in your class and once for the greater world.

SONGS & MUSIC in this Kriya include:

The Baby Elephant Walk – Henry Mancini, The Best of Mancini – The Elephant Walk near the end of the Kriya is always memorable and light
hearted.

Long Time Sun – Closing song of all Kundalini Yoga classes worldwide.
May the long time sun
Shine upon you
All love surround you
And the pure light within you
Guide your way on

PRANAYAMA – BREATHING in this Kriya includes:

Translation: My Truth is my Identity.
Inhale Sat. Exhale Nam (pronounced sut nahm)
This breathing pattern is actually the reverse of what we usually do when we breathe long and deeply. With Sat Kriya we are inhaling, drawing the belly towards the spine saying, “Sat/Sut.” As we exhale, we relax the belly and say, “Nam” as the belly expands and pushes out. Then repeat. It feels a bit odd the first few times you practice because it is the reverse of our normal deep breathing pattern. And you will soon get it!

ROCKY’S TAKEAWAY

Kriya for Disease Resistance
I really enjoyed teaching this kriya a second time. We originally practiced this kriya 29 weeks ago, March 29- April 5th. If you like this kriya you could go farther back in the library and find this week. It will be the same sequence and it may feel very different because each time a kriya is practiced it is a different experience. No two kriyas are ever the same.

I like how this kriya stretches and strengthens. And the last three postures after your short savasana within the kriya which rarely happens reawakens us. We hold a downward facing dog for 3-4 minutes, we move into the Elephant Walk and we end with Sat Kriya. Sat Nam. Rocky

I am always interested how you experience the kriyas. Feel free to reach out to me at anytime. [email protected] or through my website works too.

Sat Nam.
