Kriya To Raise the Kundalini Set #4, 5 and 6
Overview
WEEK 51 – To Raise the Kundalini Set #4, 5 and 6
Three shorter kriyas taught together as a sequence creating a subtle, spine stretching and heart opening experience. Lots of breath work in this Kriya: Breath of Fire/Bhastrikā Prānāyāma, Four Stroke Breathing and Long & Deep Breathing.
We substitute shoulder stand with legs up against the wall, Viparita Karani. This is safer to do without an instructor present with you in the room. And it is a very healing pose. If you have not done it before this is a wonderful introduction. We are asked to make it active with Breath of Fire if possible. Also I like to place a blanket against the wall. Sit beside the wall on the blanket (two inches or so of padding) and then slide your legs up the wall.
Remember – If you are on your Moon/Menstrual cycle no held breath, substitute with long and deep breathing.
CHANTS in this Kriya include:
SONGS & MUSIC in this Kriya include:
Sa Ta Na Ma chant for Kirtan Kriya and Cross Heart Kirtan Kriya by Nirinjan Kaur Meditation for Transformation CD
The last posture sitting in meditation with the hands crossed over the chest I played Musical Yoga Adventures/World Journey by Linda Lara featuring vocalist Nancy Coletti. A lovely ballad version of the Sa Ta Na Ma Chant.

ROCKY’S TAKEAWAY
Kriya To Raise the Kundalini Set #4, 5 and 6
I love the subtle nature of this kriya. For some people half bow pose on your stomach is not comfortable, for others it is okay. Slowly let the fascia release, your limbs and muscles will let go, you may need a strap to reach back for the ankle with your opposite hand. The third part of the kriya we sit on our left heel for several minutes (I place a blanket between my left heel and left sit bone) as we practice the four-stroke breath. If this becomes uncomfortable, then slide on to your left hip as a modification.
The Sa Ta Na Ma chant represents the four element of life. Infiniity. Birth. Death. Re-birth. This can apply to all aspects of life. The four seasons. The sunrise/sunset and moonrise/moonset. Our mortal lives: we are born, live and physically die. Are we reborn into some new essence, some new life expression at the soul level? There is so much to contemplate during this kriya. Go deep.
Sat Nam.
